Different Perspectives
Apologies for not writing in so long. A lot of different things contributed to this, in no particular order:
I got a promotion, yay! I have more responsibilities, boo!
I’m still working on the proper regiment of meds and food to manage my Crohn’s Disease, which also means my energy and symptoms come and go.
I fostered two adorable cats and took a million photos of them.
I traveled with E to North Adams/Mass MoCA, and Las Vegas this spring.
I started going to bed early.
Parenting switched into higher gear (welcome to the teen years!)
All of this (waves hand vaguely around).
In various ways, these things have contributed to me developing a new perspective on making art. I don't have the energy or time to do all the promotional work to email monthly, or keep my blog going. I cannot perform (and dude, I was doing a lot of performing) the way I used to. I'd like to use the time I have to make things and support my creative community, and share when it feels right.
And today feels pretty good! I have some new work available, a couple of pieces I'm very happy with, as well as some of my classwork that was fun to make.

I made the print “Midnight, Midwinter” for "All the Feels" at the S.P.A.C.E. Gallery this February. Representing a sad, scary time that is not without hope, it pairs with “Midday, Midsummer.” In sharp contrast, this represents a summer day of too much: too much sun, too much joy, too much time. The hummingbird is my heartbeat, in love with everything to the point of exhaustion. Both prints are made with the “split fountain” technique, which creates a gradient in a single layer.
If this is interesting, you can see more of my new screenprints on my website:
Most are in runs of 4-10 prints. It’s wild to realize I often start with 20-30 prints, and by the time I’m done, there’s a fraction of them that come out as I intended. I love the process, and it is super challenging.
I’ve got some adventures planned, and some new prints that I look forward to sharing with you, my people. Thanks for being here.
Now Listening:
Synthpop has bee really fun to listen to lately. It’s excellent for getting moving in the morning and washing the dishes - two things that are a real struggle for me.
See ya later.
XO, Gin
